I went to Kyrgyzstan for a Farmer to Farmer project on fish culture. The net pens you see are on Lake Issykul, the second largest alpine lake in the world (Lake Titicaca in South America is the largest). Before the breakup of the Soviet Union, the Soviets used to test new naval warfare weapons they were developing here. It was quite off limits to Westerners at that thime.
