Sydney Bushfires - 17 Oct 2013

A terrible day with hot winds up to 100 kph and
temperatures up to 35 deg C. This evening shot shows
the smoke in the SW from our home after the sunset.
Colours are enhanced (thanks Marisa)to get some details.
Lots of smoke, not cloud, in the sky.
My friend, Paul, lost his home in the fires
at Winmalee in the Blue Mountains, but no loss of life.

I hope all you Sydney-siders and those in the mountains keep safe, I've heard there's one death so far, and more are feared besides all the homes lost. A very graphic image Barry!

Our heart goes out to your friend and others affected similarly. We have been in contact with friends and extended family we have in that area,and now the fire have flared again we will continue to do so. A grandchild at preschool right in the city(at least an hour away) was picking up ash there yesterday afternoon.Even here at Bathurst an hour or so west of the mountains the town is thick with smoke and the smell of fire
