Leaving our car at the Strahan Station we joined a group to travel by bus to Queenstown in order to ride the Wilderness Train back to Strahan.
Said to be one of the great rail experiences of the world, originally built more than 100 years ago and now authentically restored, with its trestle bridges and unique "abt" rack and pinion system for steep grades, it crosses the wild King River and travels through rain forested gorges on its 35K journey.
