Cottage Grove is probably the most toured covered bridge area in Oregon. The 30-mile covered bridge tour here includes a swing through quaint old town Cottage Grove to get to the Centennial and Chambers Railroad bridges. It's completed with a drive east of town up the Row River and Mosby Creek to see the other bridges. The Dorena segment includes a pleasant drive circling the entire lake.
Cottage Grove lists seven bridges in its covered bridge tour. However, the Swinging Bridge, which is interesting in and of itself, is not a covered bridge. Of the other six bridges on its tour, only two are still in service (Stewart and Mosby). The others have been turned into walking and/or biking tourist attractions.
Cottage Grove's claim to being the "Covered Bridge Capital of Oregon" comes from the fact that the touristy Chambers Bridge is the only covered railroad bridge west of the Mississippi River and there are 19 total covered bridges in Lane County, more than any other county, where Cottage Grove is located.
Tour includes these 7 bridges:
Centennial, Swinging, Chambers Railroad, Mosby Creek, Stewart, Dorena and Currin.
