Evergreen azaleas are more correctly "persistent-leaved" azaleas. They grow a set of spring leaves which are dropped in the fall, and a set of summer leaves which persist through the winter. Their leaves typically have long hairs along the underside midrib, and are typically thinner than "small-leaf" rhododendrons.
There are thousands of named hybrid varieties of evergreen azaleas, derived from the evergreen species native primarily to Japan and China. Click here for more azalea information on the Azalea Society of America website.
The pictures are divided into galleries by plant name in alphabetic order. Click a picture to open it, and scroll down or use your browser search to find a plant of interest.
Click a picture to enlarge it and (usually) see more information. Click your browser Back button to return to the small pictures. The colors you see only approximate the true colors of the flowers, since they depend on the picture lighting, the camera settings, the lighting at your computer, and the adjustments on your computer screen.
