Have you ever wondered why #birds can safely sit on overhead #electrical lines whereas humans get #electrocuted if they try to touch them?
#Electricity needs a flow path through conductive materials. It flows from higher potential to lower potential (typically ground/earth) The birds are sitting on the line but not making contact with the ground which would complete the circuit.
If a bird with a large enough wingspan was to touch the line and the grounded pole (or the second line which is at a different potential) at the same time it would certainly get electrocuted. One can find bats lying below power poles as they get electrocuted very often due to their large wingspan.
If it was a high #voltage line the birds not only get electrocuted but usually get a flashover which basically fries them inside out and they end on the ground charred.
