Once an important cash crop, along with sugar cane, for the Hawaiian islands. Its value to the local economy has declined in recent years due to presures exerted from the import markets. There are many old time locals who would tell you of the good times and bad times they had working in the pineapple fields. Good summertime jobs for the young. And jobs for year-round workers. It's sad that it seems to be passing slow into history.
Buy American! Buy Hawaiian pineapples!
