touching and hauntingly beautiful....
we can see that there is a lot going on in this old man's head, but it is kept private. this creates this wonderful tension that we long for in a portrait, don't we? ~V~

I am a true sucker for monochrome shots, but if they are perfectly composed, well exposed and so genuine there is just no way that it can be ignored. The use of angles and the perfect use of the "rule of thirds" guideline reveals your technical competence but the fact that you have broken one of the main rules in composition by cropping half the arm and succeeding so well with that reveals your genius. Technically this shot is a school book example of how to do it right. Besides that, your subject has been portrayed "reflecting" and this provokes thoughts as well as a smile. This is where you have achieved something where others often get stuck. A beautiful, gentle yet very expressive photograph that speaks chapters. Chapeau!

A wonderful portrait with a title so fitting. I love your use of black and white tones as it attributes so much to the overall mood of the image.
