Mark,
As an artist of oils on canvas, I've viewed your photos and would love to use two in particular: Winter Barn Sunset Scene, and Cabins at Fox Hill Inn. They and many others are impressive to say the lease. Do I have your O.K.? At your convenience please let me know.

You have an incredible eye! What beautiful photos! I was looking for NS info for an upcoming trip, & also appreciated your work in NYC (we live an hour out), VA (our relatives live outside of Abingdon & our daughter went to college in Lynchburg). Makes me want to go back soon. I'd love to stay at Fox Hill. ..But no pics of White's Mill?
We recently bought the Canon 20D & are learning to use it. Appreciate your comments on test photos. It can do so much more than I know how to use it right now. Your site is marked as a favorite! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mark,
I stumbled upon your website when I was looking up information on Briar Island in Nova Scotia. I live and work in the tourism industry in Nova Scotia and was thrilled to see all of the beautiful sites you saw while you were in Nova Scotia, the pictures are incredible, you've made me realize that I haven't seen enough of my own province! Thanks!

Mark, thank you very much for looking at and commenting on my picture of the elf girl. This young women was most enchanting. Few but a few photographers will know what it feels like to have someone look through the camera it you in the way that young lady did to me. Hope to see more of your great work in the future!

Mark:

Thanks for the kind comments on the tennis photo. As to the blur of the ball at 1/1600th - unfortunately the girl she was playing hit the ball EXTREMELY hard most of the time. I'm not surprised at the blur; I am surprised Laura was able to counter that pace.

I've looked through your galleries. You have a great eye for composition, color and light. Keep up the good work.

I've decided I WILL go to my family reunion in the Smokies this summer, because I'll get to drive through my home state enroute! I doubt I can afford the pleasure of a stay at your Inn, although the drive to Knoxville from Philadelphia is more than I can do in a day.

If you don't mind I'll paste in here a remark I left at your lovely landscape view of the cows grazing atop a ridge on PBase (feel free to delete it if you prefer!):

As a Virginia boy, myself, I appreciate your use of the photographic image to communicate messages about what corporate factory-farming is doing to the beauty of farmland. You might add that it is _we_ who directly cause it!

Alas, it is we who shop for the best price on our supermarket hamburger & porkchops & eggs - rather than making our buying choices on the environmental integrity and health of what we eat & cause to be produced on our behalf. (One program to help preserve the small farm and reduce trucking of food over long distances, et al is to buy organic, buy local and to learn: . Support CSA in your area "Community-supported agriculture", too!

See and choose your Zip Code or state to see the way to keep family farming local.

NB: I am not involved in the food biz; I'm just an architect who designs sustainable buildings & developments.

Peace!

I found your gallery by searching for photos of the Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick. Very nice work. I found the area fascinating and took plenty of photos myself while on a visit there last summer. I have a few of them at www.pbase.com/hsandler

Hello Mark,
I really enjoyed your photos, particularly those of SW Virginia. Although I am originally from the flatlands of Pennsylvania, I have been living in SW VA for 6 years, and am still astounded by the beauty that surrounds me. Your photos capture that beauty so perfectly!

I have a small southwest Virginia website, www.mountainkin.com, and we have a photo gallery where we share photos. Please feel free to utilize our gallery space for SW Va photos. We would love to have you join us!

Mark, we just returned from Alaska, taking the ferry from Juneau to Ketchikan, and enjoyed seeing your photographs.

We are developing architectural plans for the Pioneers' Homes throughout Alaska, and have been looking for high quality photographic images that can be, or have been, made into large format murals.

Please contact us to discuss how we might work together. Howard & Judith Yarme, we are now in Rhode Island at 401-245-6212, or we can work through e-mail.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Mark, I enjoyed our stay at the Fox Hill Inn last night. Thanks a lot! Stopped by your web site to check it out. Great Photos. Yes, the 'Adventure Bound' is the same boat that took me and a friend up the Tracy Arm this past summer. I enjoyed all your photos of Southeast Alaska and your ride on the Alaska Marine Highway---what a very pleasant way to travel.
Happy Trails to you and Janet,

Hey, I like the Nova Scotia gallery. It's so hard to find high quality shots of God's Country on the web. I'm from Nova Scotia, New Glasgow actually. I've been living in Ottawa Ontario for about 1 1/2 years now, and I miss it severly!! Anyway, nice stuff. I've got my own little picture page at pages.infinit.net/jeremyi if you want to take a peek.
