National Naval Aviation Museum
Pensacola NAS
Pensacola, Florida
Circa. 1958
The only remaining example of this carrier-based medium nuclear bomber. The AJ-2 is powered by two radial engines and a single jet engine that exhausts in the rear (see bottom image).
The jet engine exhaust is visible in this image.
Note: Many of the aircraft sitting on the ramp outside the restoration hanger complex at Pensacola are in very "weathered" shape...or worse. In time; all will be restored to factory fresh (perhaps not flyable, but certainly cosmetically) condition; and wearing the appropriate markings and paint appropriate for their operational service time period.
