the D3X was Nikon's studio DSLR & it is a pleasure to use, particularly as I knew the Nikon way from using their SLR bodies at work & with the Fujifilm DSLRs
outstanding AF as well, though FF has some disadvantages for birds & macro work
much to my surprise it does a great job with theatricals
got the D7100 for birds & bugs where a 1.5 crop sensor is a major advantage & it is much lighter ...I have been impressed by its low light capability in which its smaller sensor has not proven much of a liability
both complement my digital Ms perfectly

Ihave compared the first full sized shots from D3X to A900 and Canon 5Dmk2 in all iso ranges. Here 5D and D3X are equal in quality and noise, A900 stays one stop less good higher 800 iso. Picture quality on all 3 cameras up to 800 iso is the same. Just could not find out what makes the D3X some 3000 bucks more expensive. Live view and some more AF can not justify this. But all in all, the results are quite stunning. I was surprised of Sony A900 first shots, the D3X doesn't surprises me since shots are the same. Nikon has advantage to do no rework when noise flattening is off while Sony still does. Nikon did here a much better job to push the sensor in higher ISO range, but, it will remain a camera to work with ISO 800 as a reasonable limit. Thanks for the shots, a few shots in real full size would be appreciated.
