Fritz Wildhagen (1878-1956) was born in Moscow, studied the history of Art at Herman Grimm and then changed as a painter to the academic university far plastic Arts in Berlin, where he was furthered by Friedrich Kallmorgen. He undertook educational journeys to Persia, Africa, Russia, Italy, Denmark and the Balkans. He became very successful with his quiet pictures of landscapes. Wildhagen spent a greater part of his life in Berlin. The second world war drove him to Westfaler, where he died in 1966.
