My family also lived at 84 Robinson Road, from 1976-1982. Half of the building was telephone company, some of the flats were U.S. Consulate; we were neither.

I lived in Fairview Mansions, 84 Robinson Road from the late 70s to mid 80s. I think half the flats were let to Hong Kong Telephone Co. folks. Thanks for putting these photos up. Big nostalgia fest!
Yes you're right. Oaklands Ave ran directly behind Fairview Mansions and Robinson Road was at it's entrance. I was 100 ft off ! I'll update the caption.

Hey Tom. This is Robinson Road. The entrance on the left is for 84 Robinson Road - Fairview Mansions - where I lived for 5 years. It was here that the Irish Guards were billeted when helping out with the Kotewall Road disaster.
