Bluebell Woods in Kent

Some pictures of King's Wood, Challock, Kent, England. This woodland has been around since at least King John's time: it seems he liked to come hunting here. Nowadays, there is is a great deal of coppiced chestnut, and in April/May there are huge carpets of bluebells. You can find details of the woodland at the Forestry Commission.

I'm trying to locate a great bluebell wood in Kent that my parents took me to many times when I was very young. The entrance is on the corner of a narrow country lane on the upper slopes of a small valley. There was a white gate into the adjacent field that could be seen from some distance. In the field on the other side there was a large concrete block (which could have been a WW2 gun emplacement or maybe a pillbox - it was a long time ago!). I've no idea whether the gate and block are still there, of course. It would have been within an hour's drive of Dartford. Any ideas anyone please?

My friend and I got lost while driving from canterbury to windsor many yrs ago, but while we were lost we seen the most beautiful blue flowers in a densely wooded area and stopped to photograph it. I don't know where we were, but it's a lovely memory!!

I have lived in Florida for 25 years now but used to live in Kent, HOW I miss these beautiful woods full of bluebells. All these pictures are stunning...
