On the right hand side The Old Library House.Completed in 1925, inauguration on 10 October 1925. Shoe manufacturer Emil Aaltonen donated one million Finnish marks to the library construction fund in 1919. Once the financing was confirmed, an architectural design contest was announced in which Jussi and Toivo Paatela won first place. The Library house, which had come to cost a total of 3.5 million marks, was inaugurated on the Aleksis Kivi Day, 10 October 1925.
On the left Tampere Theatre, which is one of the oldest theatres in Finland. Kaarle Halme, a pioneer of dramatic art, founded the Tampere Theatre with the help of the city's businessmen and indrustrialists in 1904.
