Has anyone actually set foot on the Ark? Has anyone tried, using the technology available today, to get core samples or do carbon dating to determine if this a wooden structure? If so, why couldn't scientists from the christian & jewish faiths come together for a conclusion?

May I ask where you heard it was shaped like a barge? That's not in the bible.
