This is an Okarito Brown Kiwi. They are notoriously difficult to find let alone photograph. I spent 3 nights searching in 2 locations where kiwis are known to be. On the 3rd night, after 2 hours of fruitless searching, this bird was found snuffling around next to the car park!! A huge thank you to Ian Southey for helping me track down this nocturnal creature.
