On the right the new Gate leading to the Inner Castle. It spans the now empty moat and used to have a drawbridge.
Over the gate is a metal sculpture of a bears head commemorating the last bear killed in the Vogelsberg in 1678.
On the left the new Renaissance Palas (Living Quarters) ca. 1500 with a sandstone addition in the front that was completed in 1595.
