River Thames - London - England

Taken during a boat trip last year.

Construction of the London Eye began in 1998 and at its opening in 2000 it was known as the Millennium Wheel.
The wheel's circumference is 1,392ft and it is 443ft high..... the tallest ferris wheel in Europe.
The London eye has 32 capsules that can carry a total of 800 passengers who can see up to 40 kilometres in all directions. One rotation takes about half an hour travelling at 0.6 miles per hour. This is slow enough to let passengers get on and off without the wheel having to stop.
