TWO MANSIONS

Bruges Belgium

On The Markt....
On the left is the Huis Bouchotte, which played host to visiting kings in the 16th & 17th centuries. It dates from 1480, and was refurbished in the 1850s, then the original gothic brickwork was restored quite recently in 1995, along with the octagonal compass which is connected to the weathervane. Here, a hydraulic lift is conveying something to or from its 4th floor. The ground floor now houses an office.
On the right, above its ground floor restaurant is the Craenenburg, a Middle Ages residence of Bruges counts and knights. The facade is now neo-gothic refurbished in 1955.
