This is a shot of the blinds behind the monitor. I know it's a bit of a "getting desperate" shot but there's good reason.
Last night was my turn for cooking as DC had been on a long duty shift at work covering for absent colleagues. No problens with that, we had a lovely dinner as usual, a bit of a chat, some afters and clear away the pots.
Now I normally let the griddle pan cool down then half fill with water and a little detergent then bring to the boil on the gas. This normally has the effect of loosening any remaing cooking debris and making the final clean much easier. Easier that is until I forgot about this whilst messenging a fellow Pbaser here on the 'net! How time flies when one is having fun!!
Her indoors said "are you cooking something again Ian, I think I can smell something" whereby the task in hand was immediately brought back to mind. When I opened the kitchen door I could barely see the other side of the room for smoke... the pan had boiled dry and the remains had begun to smoulder. I guess it wouldn't have been quite so bad had I not have been cooking monkfish tails that had been marinading in a cajun spice for two hours previous... I think you get my drift. So most of today has been spent decarbonising my beloved Le Crusset griddle pan and trying in vain to restore the pleasant kitchen aroma that we are acustomed to here at Chappell Towers! So for today, this will have to do!
