In 1874 the ship the "British Admiral" was wrecked on this beach, now called British Admiral Beach.

This headstone remembers William Dalzell Nicholson, then 25 years of age and 78 others who perished here. King Island is surrounded by such tales of death and ship wrecks in times when navigation errors were common.
