Well, lets see how long I can keep these types of days going. I have to come up with a few other meals. So far we have.....
Sunday
Macaroni Monday
Tuesday
Waffle Wednesday
Thursday
Fondue Friday
Spaghetti Saturday
It's fun to collaborate with the wee ones to plan meals, and name our weekdays. We started with Fondue Friday's, simply because it's just so dang good!! (shouldn't everything on Friday be good?!) We love to melt chocolate and dip our favorite fruits and pound cake into the sweet goodness of our own mix of chocolate.
So here you have Waffle Wednesday. To make you will need.... (these are approximates, as I don't measure out everything, I just make it, its more fun that way)
Get out your waffle maker, and go ahead and plug in so that it gets nice and hot while you are making the batter.
Waffle Batter
4 cups self rising flour (I don't have time for the other stuff)
2 large eggs
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons vanilla
1/4 cup oil
enough water to make into a cake batter consistancy.
Mix above ingredients until combined, then whisk rapidly to reduce lumps. Using a large serving spoon, fill the waffle iron with mix. Wait for light to go off, and now you have a perfect waffle to start your Wednesday. (makes about 6 large waffles)
We also make a strawberry syrup to go over our waffles, altho not seen here. (just couldn't get it to look good enough on "film")
Strawberry Syrup
1/2 cup sugar
10-12 large ripe strawberries
Water
Core and slice the strawberries. Place into a meduim sauce pan and add sugar and 2 cups of water to start. Bring to boil, reduce heat. I stir constantly, as so the strawberries do not burn, adding more water if needed. Careful!!! It's a very hot sticky syrup.
Pour over waffles, and add whipped topping if you desire. (the boys like that part!)
Best enjoyed sitting around the breakfast table eating with your little darlings, discussing the plans for the day.
Welcome to our Waffle Wednesday!!!!!!
