The Paradise Center for Tolerance and Nonviolence in Paradise, CA, presented its 10th annual commemoration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Paradise United Methodist Church on Jan. 18, 2010. Karen Duncanwood, an activist from the S.F. Bay Area who spent the summer of 1964 seeking civil rights for African-Americans in rural Mississippi, was the featured speaker. The event also featured the Doin' It Justice Choir's "Voices for Peace," dramatic readings of summer of '64 letters, the United Methodist Church Choir, and the spoken words of the evening's emcee, LaFreeda Thomas.
