A different entry for this gallery, but this is real "daily life" stuff :)
On tuesday I had the chance to see my heart's team play for the Champions League....
(For the Americans, this is soccer stuff). I won that pretty VIP invitation that you all
can see on the top image, courtesy of Sony Portugal, to see the best football team in the
world (ok! for me they are) Sporting Clube de Portugal play against INTER Milano from Italy.
I was all happy thinking that I was going to make a great photojournalistic gallery
about that day, when I took that second photo on the top... What I didn't know, was
that UEFA doesn't allow people to take cameras to the stadium. Some guy that had seen me
shooting before we entered the stadium had told me that I wouldn't pass security.. Of
course I thought he was just trying to make conversation
(ok he was, but that's another story),
even more so when I passed the security guy without being frisked....
but what I didn't know was that women were frisked by female
securities once inside...
So, they took my camera away and I could only shoot with the cellphone as can be seen in the little images on the bottom...
I almost lost the cellphone on the sequence of that play that I was following in the 3rd
little image as WE SCORED!!!
In the last photo I am returning home by boat wearing my team scarf, just a bit bummed out
for not being able to take photos and also for not being able to convince the guys from Sony
that I might deserve a Sony Alpha on account of whatever, but they didn't listen to me...
Overall it was a fantastic night, even because we had never beaten Inter Milano before :P
and the first time I went there to see Sporting play, we kicked their butts
Sorry tiffosi, I am just so happy!!
Serious photography will follow soon (I hope) as well as comments and messages
and other assorted Pbase stuff. I just had to share this special moment with
you all.
And now for the THANK YOU'S:
Sporting Clube de Portugal (Always!!!!)
Marco Caneira (for that awesome goal)
Sony Portugal (Thanks again, that seat was the best ever. About the Alpha could we..ok never mind)
The guy that warned me about the camera issue (Sorry, I made up that phone number I gave you)
The stewards that I've asked about where was my seat (I'd never been there & it's a big stadium)
Assorted others for assorted reasons (well...)
And especially to you that put up with all my sms's (It was what kept my fingers from freezing!)
