A 12x lens will open up new avenues of exploration for you, Ana. You will never see the same way again. It happened that way for me, too. You can get tele and wide converter lenses for it as well, and keep on growing. Yet you are not burdened the weight of a DSLR. You also will keep on getting a live electronic preview of your pictures, which is very important creative advantage. What you see is what you get. Exactly. This emerging class of camera is an excellent all around tool choice for those who want the advantage of a compact camera, yet retain much of the control of a DSLR. The only sacrifice comes in noise, but noise is not an issue for web usage, so you should have no problems there. (I use a similar class of camera to shoot my web galleries, the Panasonic FZ-20. I just added the new FZ-30 last week and am anxious to test it shortly.)
