Another hot and scorching summer's day when you walk out of the office and feel like you're in an oven, being gently baked just as a roast chicken would be. Only sweatier.
Again I've used the new 9 to 18 mm lens, with my primary intention being to discover how much distortion I'm likely to get shooting from in front of a building. As it turned out, the building that I intended to use (the one on the left) had a distracting car parked in front of it (just out of frame on the left) so instead I went for this oblique angle shot along the pier.
Because the Sun has been so intense, I went for another five image bracket HDR shot. I had to do a substantial amount of tweaking of both shadows and highlights to get the appearance right since the yellow of the buildings in particular seemed a little less bright than it should have. And, in reality, that's probably still the case but the colours are a lot closer to reality now. This is a pretty good representation of what you would see if you could open your eyes from squinting into the harsh glare.
Edit August 2023: And somehow... I seem to have dumped 4 of the 5 images that went into the HDR. How, I have no idea unless they were incorrectly marked as Reject. However they certainly aren't there now.
