The first morning of daylight saving had begun, and I forgot to take into account that the clocks had gone forward one hour when I turned on my alarm the previous night.
Consequently I awoke to the complete darkness of the continuing night. Oh, and naturally I forgot to reset the Olympus's clock so the timestamp on this shot is an hour out.
Initially I drove up to the top of the escarpment with a view to taking a shot of Wollongong at night from an elevated position. The problem is that there was a howling wind up there and even with the ISO pumped up and the aperture opened, and the camera secured on the tripod there is no way that the exposure was going to be short enough to keep it crisp.
Consequently I drove back down the mountain and went in search of another streetscape to document. Not a shop this time, but rather a railway station acting as an island of light just before the rise of the Sun.
