111004_125708_001 Il Dolce Freddo (The Cold Sweet, more or less) (Tue 04 Oct 11)

116 Lygon Street, Carlton (Melbourne), Victoria, Australia

If you're in Melbourne, I do suggest checking out what's on at the Melbourne Museum. They've had some very impressive exhibitions over the last couple of years, Titanic and Tutankhamen to name but two.

And if you do, I suggest that you make the trip on any day other than a Monday; that is, any day that Il Dolce Freddo, only a couple of streets over from the museum, is open.

If you can imagine the flavour, they probably have a gelato to match it. If you can't imagine it, they've probably dreamt one up.

Mine is a three scoop combination of choc mint, forest berries, and lemon. My partner's, I can't recall the specifics of but I recall chocolate featuring prominently.

Eat and be merry, for tomorrow (or maybe the day after), we die(t).

Edit, September 2024: According to Google the place is "Temporarily Closed". The last review on there (from 2 months ago) said that it had been closed since last May. There have been no postings on their Instagram account for a couple of years (but then, Instagram has an ever diminishing return on investment for businesses), and their web site... well, it exists, but only as a bunch of static pages. It would be worth checking if you're in the area anyway, as there are plenty of other good Italian eateries down in Carlton.

Addendum: My personal opinion is that Facebook is a sociopathic organisation that steals other peoples' intellectual property (including the images in this gallery) despite being explicitly denied permission to do so.
