The morning is cold and wet. Most of those who are out here at this time are in a hurry to be where they're going and rush along, heads bowed against the drizzle.

For others (and alas I, as with most mornings, am not one of them), some solace can be sought in the warm, inviting lights of this 24 hour diner on the Circular Quay promenade, and the hot coffee to be found within.

I have to admit that I haven't ever been to City Extra, but having just perused the dessert menu I may need to rectify that.

"Editor's Downfall: Chocolate mud cake laced with rum raisins and almonds. Served with cream or ice cream."

(I'm not sure whether it's the mud cake or the rum that's intended to be the editor's downfall; possibly the combination.)

"Lemon Cheesecake: Smooth tangy lemon cheesecake with cream and topped with a strawberry."

"CHOCOHOLICS IRRESISTABLE: Ultimate Sundae for chocoholics - mouthwatering combination of chocolate and vanilla ice creams, shaved chocolate, marshmallows, cream and topped with hot chocolate fudge and a chocolate wafer stick."

Say you so, good sir? Surely, I must at some point sample thy wares...
