Not exactly what I planned to shoot; that was some ways down the road. But though today was a picture-perfect sunny winter's day, it did have one issue.
Wind. And plenty of it. (And a severe weather warning has been issued for tomorrow too. Damaging winds averaging 65km/h, with peak gusts around 100km/h, are forecast for the ACT, Illawarra, Southern Tablelands, Central Tablelands and Snowy Mountains regions.)
It blew the clouds away making the sky bright blue, but imparting an icy chill to the air. So of course by the time night fell and standing by a coastal road felt like standing in front of an industrial-sized fan-forced refrigerator with the door open, I decided to postpone my plan to walk a kilometre or so to the proposed shooting site and just took some shots near where I was.
The location is slightly less isolated than it seems, though there was little car traffic; I originally had an idea of a stream of tail lights vanishing into the night but I was lucky to get this one. (Actually this may have worked better anyway.) Across the road, though, at the (100 years old this year) Clifton School Of Arts I noticed that there was, by coincidence, a photography show occurring. It may have been a private show; there was no indication that it was open to the public or I may have taken a wander inside.
I opted to put the focus point right on the park sign in this one and stay with f/8 which softened up the more distant signs a bit, just to emphasise the sense of isolation of this spot from the (seeming) void beyond. Yup, it's Mr. Hopper's work Gas playing with my mind again.
