A wall of vessels at the Sydney International Boat Show are lit up by artificial lighting just before dawn. The former Manly ferry South Steyne, now a floating restaurant, can be seen in the background with the Pyrmont Bridge to my right.
---
Edit, July 2024: "was THEN a floating restaurant", that should now be. To quote an Australian Broadcasting Corporation article from April this year:
"New South Wales's only heritage-listed ship is celebrating 86 years at sea, but the prized steam ferry has also been left without a permanent home going on eight years.
...
But the ferry has now been inactive for years, currently moored in Berrys Bay in Sydney's lower north shore."
Also visible in the background was the Festival Cafe in the Harbourside shopping centre, which used to give you a good feed at a decent price. When I took this shot I had no idea that I would come to know the owner, who lives in the Illawarra... as I now do, though I had no idea that that would be in my future either. The cafe closed because the management could not give him assurances of an ongoing lease because there were rumblings even then of Harbourside being demolished... which in fact happened in December of 2022.
