On the trip to Melbourne which led to the Day And a Bit In Bleak City gallery (PBase link only at the moment), I not only ripped a hunk of skin off the front of my leg on a plinth in Spring Street (the mark from which is fading but still visible if you know where to look), but also came down with a bitchin' case of food poisoning.
It's hardly a surprise that this particular café in Bourke Street's name caught my attention. In fact Self Preservation isn't exactly a café. It's a combination café, jewellery store and small art exhibition gallery, though the middle of these seems to be its main "thing". Their web site is minimalist to the point of barely existing; it doesn't even include opening times though it has a photo of the front door stating that it's "7 days, day and night". Well... yeah. But that doesn't necessarily mean 24 hours. And the café menu spans a whole 13 food items including a ham and cheese roll for $6.50 (a little over the odds, but not too much) and fresh bread and jam for $6 {raises eyebrows}.
Of course, there's always Maccas...
Addendum: My personal opinion is that Facebook is a sociopathic organisation that steals other peoples' intellectual property (including the images in this gallery) despite being explicitly denied permission to do so.
