Saturdays should be spent in a better way than this. Getting out, enjoying the weather, resting, recreating, belting innocent balls around a court... alas I have some projects, not day-job projects but projects nonetheless, which are well overdue to be ticked off the "to do" list. While I didn't spend the entire day working, it wasn't all play and no work for this little black duck today and the recreational aspect had to fade into the background (OK, foreground in this case) a little.

Edit, August 2023: I WOULD say that this book collection didn't age well... but of course it did. Software textbooks are things of their time, and time and technology move on, for better or worse. Many of these I still have in digital form, especially Paul Nielsen's SQL Server Bible, which is still an incredibly useful reference book because of its strong emphasis on SQL itself and batch based operations. Unfortunately Nielsen ended up moving out of the SQL Server training space and into creating database applications for Christian missionary organisations. Just as the equally legendary John Walkenbach eventually walked away from Excel... there's probably a limit to the amount of time you can spend as a software guru before it gets old.
