Adam Lindsay Gordon was... well, he seemed to have trouble deciding WHAT he was, having dabbled in policing and politics and being a jockey, but he's probably best remembered as a poet. He lived from 1833 to 1870, though only for part of that time in Victoria and very little of it in Melbourne. Nonetheless, this statue has been erected to his memory near Parliament House.
