Another gift from my English friends, Pamela and Ian. This time, a wonderful
Olympus µ[mju:]-1 (known as 'Stylus' in the US). This camera is small, cute,
and beautifully designed, with a sliding front gate (seen open here) to provide
a hard clam shell 'carry case' when not in use. Auto everything, with quartz date
and timer, plus over-ride options for flash etc. The lens is sharp and a very
useful 35mm focal length with f3.5 maximum aperture. Olympus 'went out
on a limb' with the naming of this design - µ[mju:]- but kept it alive from this
first camera in 1991 until the last film model in 2003. The design was a runaway
best seller over the years for P&S 35mm cameras, and the name has carried forward
into the current 10MP Digital µ[MJU:]series.
