This is an amazing image, for me. It is a farmyard picture (of me) taken in
the Australian summer of 1948-1949 I guess. It would have been taken
with a Kodak Box Brownie or a Kodak Folder on 116 film (2 1/2 x 4 1/2)
and using a Kodak film - they were often 80 or 100 asa. This negative
is one of quite a few recently located in clearing out the old farmhouse
where I grew up. This image is from a STRAIGHT SCAN, and is a testament
to the latitude of this film, and the sharpness of the rudimentary lens
(as well as the steady hand). I notice some movement in the tree leaves,
so I guess the shutter was fixed at about 1/60 or 1/100. An oldie but a goodie.
(P.S. I was well known as an apprentice sheep and cattle 'drover', using the ducks for practice. ;-) )
