The first time I went to Paris was in 1974 as a fairly young pup and I didn't do much photographically except for snapping some snap shots with my back then Canonet GIII. A few years later, I had my first SLR, a Canon AE-1 and did go back to Paris but the opportunities were not there to take serious photography. Fast forward to 2010 - Earlier that year, we had a layover stop in Paris on the way to another part of Europe but we didn't actually go out of the terminal. Finally, when we made the plan to go to the Middle East and we had to lay over in Paris again, we included a 3-night stay in this wonderful city. The fall colors were great but two out of the three days were cloudy but at least, it didn't rain.

What did we visit while there? Well, here are some shots captured in that city. There are spots that I visited already over 30 years ago but they are places I didn't go before. Here is brief rundown. Needless to say, being completed in 1989, I didn't see the pyramid at the Louvre in real life until this visit. That is one photogenic spot, I must add and I ended up going there twice; the first time around only from the outside and I used a tripod. The second time around, since tripod is not allowed, I left it at the hotel and I went inside. The sky was clear and blue that day. Even a full day wouldn't be enough to see the entire museum. So, after scratching only the surface, I left the museum slightly before dark and I took some more outside pictures at dusk.

I went to the Notre Dame twice also. Since tripod was not allowed, I used a lens the second time around that I left at the hotel the first time. The Eiffel tower was partly covered, probably for maintenance and the sky was grey. Although it didn't matter much but to a certain degree, the grey sky did reduce the brilliance of St Chapelle in the afternoon. This former church was converted to a museum and as my luck would dictate it, a part of it was covered for restoration/maintenance also. Oh, well.
