...(10/28/07) We started this section of my 914-6 GT project. i hope to be able to document very accurately how the 914-6 GT Targa-Top https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/86736092 was attached and installed.

I'll start by pointing out the obvious; Here we see the factory 914-6 standard windshield frame https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/87509828 without the added attachment tabs https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/87297808 required to install the 914-6 GT reinforced Targa-Top. I realize this may not be a good photo, but the only one I have of the Lufthansa 914-6 GT front attachment bolt https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/28506760 holding down securely the front of the Targa-Top. This other photo shows the same area but of the Sonauto 914-6 GT https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/25692340 and with the bolt removed.

Please note the following; I will like to point out some small but very important details of the installation of the front attachment tabs. The front windshield frame gets 4 square metal tabs https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/87297808 (see top of photo) welded in place, two on each side, with one directly on top of the other. The thicker tab goes on the TOP and the thinner at the BOTTOM. The hole in the middle of the thicker metal tab is threaded while the tab on the bottom is NOT. More like a location guide for the attachment bolt to be inserted. No, I do not yet know the reason or purpose for the small pilot hole at the one corner (but I'll find out sooner or later).

Moving over to the rear, this photo shows us the factory 914-6 rear rollbar exposed https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/87578706 without the GT Targa-Top mounting tabs while this other photo shows us the Sonauto 914-6 GT Targa-Top rear roll-bar attachment point https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/22265178 and this other photo, the Lufthansa GT https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/28506759. When comparing the two photos, both appear to show the same exact installation results.
