New Giant Swallowtail Record

Imagine my excitement when this mammoth Giant Swallowtail fluttered past me and lit on my zinnias just now! A check of it's distribution map shows no record to date of this magical butterfly in Onondaga County, NY! That is....until now!!! This was the photo of record for documentation of Giant Swallowtail in Onondaga County, NY.

Thanks for your comments! Unfortunately, while this species was seen throughout Central New York, and indeed even in Southern Ontario during the summer of 2007, we never had a second sighting in our own backyard. Here's hoping for another glimpse in 2008! Yvonne
