Ken Moe...my dad is David T. Deyell. He served in the 202nd from 1962-1964 I believe. He just asked me to look up some of the guys in his company, and that is how I found this website. he was looking for Norm Britton which I saw a message from here. He's not computer savvy, but I would relay any message to him. Joanna...jobeen23@yahoo.com

My name is Dennis Fessenden. I served at the 202 from Oct. 82 til Apr. 84. I was there 4 days, just in time to have a bomb explode just across the street in the housing area. I was 1 of the first 2 on the scene and cleared the housing unit after the explosion. Spent the rest of the night looking for more bombs. They said the bomb was put under the 1st sgt's car.(Bauer), I believe. Was in the 2nd platoon under Sgt.Rayes.

Hi Allan, I was at Poitiers with the 202nd from May 1963 to May '66. We have several MPs on our Group that were at Ingrandes, at least one during the same period as you. BTW, I spent 6 months TDY at TUSLOG Det 60 in 1964. Got some pictures on the Group, too. Lots of Ingrandes folks are Members, come on over and join in on the fun. Contact me at fadingshadows@juno.com
ALLAN WOODCOCK05-Feb-2012 04:56
I am Allan Woodcock -Arrived at Ingrandes NOV 1966 from TUSLOG DET 60 which was a detachment of the 202nd at Incirlik Air Base near Adana, Turkey. As part of COMZ that storage area was closed and the materials shipped out. Also from there came Joe Strong, George Sweeney, Gary Skogen, Richard Stalibird and Jerald Lambert. Remember being on the desk with Msrs. Strasser and Prevost. Prevot liked to suck a raw egg for part of a meal. Capt James Berry was the C.O. (I bought his blue Peugeot wagon)and SSGT Bothillier was the OPS Sgt as I recall. Convoys of 30 or so trucks were leaving every evening for Germany or LaRochelle. Was housed with my wife at LaFayette Village as a PFC (later was made CPL). Sometime around May of 1967 we held Color Guard to close nearby facilities and hand them over to the French – Samur and Bussac. Ingrandes was the only Military Police in that area and we even had to drive twice to Captieux to investigate incidents. When the unit finally left Ingrandes I think the Cadre went to Ft Sheridan and those of not born in Germany went to Germany. Around May of 1967 I went to a NIKE site in Germany until Oct of 1968. My memories of Ingrandes and the 202nd are very good ones. We did our job while having a bit of fun at the same time. I have a few photos if anyone is interested. My email is: awoodc@earthlink.net

I also was in the 202nd during that period, I do remember Richard, but not George. I finished my time as the PMI assigned to the 15th CID in Poitiers and Ingrandes. I came back to the states in July 1965.

Was at River Barracks mid 1966 to mid 1967 in a 175 unit (just ammo humped, and then was the 1st Sgt driver; also ran the armory for a short time). Hated Grafenwoehr training in the winter and spring. But loved the area and people; mountain climbing in Garmisch in the Bavaria Alps, etc. Have a lot of pictures of the men I served with, but hard to remember the names. Any comments or names from that long ago era?
George Kilroy 11-Mar-2011 04:10

Ken, we've got two more names you can add. Ted Dauven and Roger Egdorf. Both men served at Ingrandes and Poitiers. Maybe by late 2011, we'll have contacted a few more! Oh, Bill Miller, Tony Capri, and Lenny Kaminski are in contact, so who knows.

Hq. Platoon of the 202nd MP Company from 1961-65 (all four members who could attend) just met in New Orleans on Veterans' Day to renew and relax together. Gillespie, Fisher, Klauer and Moe met and now plan to greet the 202nd when they return form downrange in the fall of 2011. We have made contact with Hammaker, Allard, Hendren, Britton, Kemp, Johnson, Embly, Shedd, and Gurkins in the past and are trying to find as many others who served with us to invite all of them to join us to welcome the company home next fall. Please contact me here or call 262-781-3173 and let me know.

Tom Johnson 10-Nov-2010 01:38
Colonel Hammaker brings up a good suggestion. Can anyone remember the other units at Ingrandes, with Detachments at Poitiers and elsewhere? The 313th Signal, the 279th Army Band, 599th APU, and 1st Logistical Command. What else? Anyone remember the medical unit? Motor Pool? Any others? Let's see what we can come up with.
Charles A. Hammaker 04-Nov-2010 01:48
I am sending this request to any member of the 202nd that was part of the Hedquarters at Ingrandes in 1959-62. I have received a letter from a lady in Dange names Nelly Arnault. She is requesting help in finding her fathwr who was stationed at Ingrandes during that period. All she told me wqas that he was a black soldier and would like to know what other units were stationed there. She does not allege that her father was an MP. All she would like is to receive the names and numerical designations of other units there at the time. I do not recall that information so would like some help if any of you can do so. It was a long time ago so hat information may no longer be capturable. Her address is: Mme. Carpy Nelly Rue GRDC Roix, 86220 Dange St. Romain, France. I'm sure she would be grateful for any inormation you might recall. Thanks.

Charles A. Hammaker, Jr. former CO of 202nd as a Captain at Ingrandes General Depot

I'm a guest and looking for any remembrances of Frank Damiata of Middletown CT who was with the 202 and a member of General Mark Clark's Honor Guard right after the war in Vienna. I think he was already there by 1946-48. He died early today (October 24, 2010). He was married to Hilda Gribitz then of Vienna in ca. 1951. Any memories of any kind would be most welcome.
Thanks

I second those congratulations, Chandra! Although I was with the 202nd in France, I was also stationed at Fort Bliss a long, long time ago. If I remember correctly, I was with the 34th MP Det. I reenlisted to get out of there (lol).

John G. Runion, Sr. I was stationed at Ingrandes/Chatellerault, Poitiers, & St. Nazaire from 1965 through 1967, when DeGaule pulled out of NATO and kicked U.S. Forces out of France. I was a SGT E-5 1st Signal, 313th & 385th Signal Detachment Commander. I completed my U.S. Army-Signal Corps commitment, came back CONUS, honorably discharged and received my B.S. Electrical Engineering here in Houston, Texas. I am just about ready to retire to my Cattle Ranch and enjoy what there is of my life left with B.H.O. as our CIC! I travelled through Southwestern France in 1976 and 1988 and everything had changed so much; did not recognize much of our Military presence there. I would like to re-connect with anyone who was stationed in France and that I possibly knew. jrunionsr@hotmail.com

Stew, nice to hear from you after so many years. It sure was good duty working for CWO Rangold and I did enjoy my stay in France. It was especially nice being the lone PMI in Poitiers with an office on the 2nd floor above the MP Desk Sergeant's area. I do not remember too many high level investigations that conducted during my stay in the 202nd. When I left France I had jsut turned 23 years of age, so our ages are close to being the same. I have received emails from Lt. Moe, Gil Gillespie and Tom Johnson. Was Alexis Graindorge the interpreter when you took the PMI job? I was able to meet many of his relatives in the Ingrandes area and they were very nice to me, lots of good food and homemade wine.

Norman D Britton, William Stewart here. Read your post and was pleasantly surprised. We had some pleasant conversations along with Mister Rangold and Miss Briethaupt, his secertary. I can recall your jibes about the General De Galle, and that got her fired up quickly. I'm trying to recall the Spec Five that came in about June of 64, he and I were stationed in Korea. Also remember Sandy? I never ran into any one after france, except Cpl Corbin Howard, he did call me in the latter sixties, he was a spec five then. We were both on orders to report for a return engagement to nam, but I lost track of him and regret having lost his address in Florida. Howard was good friends with with Donaldson in Braconne. Gabbin too much here. I know you remmeber my nemisis Alexander Gildawie, we used to go at, but I outranked him and he was a terror about it. He, Gildawie, much to the chagrin of many was a good Non/Com, he had more moral authority then most NCO's of higher rank. I had to give him that. Well if you get a chance drop me a line, hell you may not even remember me, I was 21 years old then, I think you were older then me, you used to call me, "Hey kid!" Drove a Simca mille, a white one. I can hear Mr Rangold, "Why hello, Norman, what brings you too the land of oz?" we would all snicker and Max Singer would get paranoid.

Ran accross this website by accident. Brought back many memories. I served in the 202nd in 63, 64 and 65 both in Poitiers and Ingrandes. Also was the PMI for the the 15th CID. Looking at the photos of my fellow soldiers during this period was very nice. I returned to Chatellerault many times on business until I retired three years ago.

John A Clark, I am pleased to have your response to my entry regarding the 202 MP Co. in Salzburg, Camp Riedenburg. I was there sitting behind die Iron bar on the typewriter typing Ofense Reports until the last day.I don't remeber you by name, but very often I was driven home by a Paatrol after my duty and some times I accompanied the Patrol to pick up the Weather Report from Schloss Klessheim/Kavalierhaus.Do you remeber Desk Sgt. Daniels or M/Sgt. Peddy? I am looking forward to receive your message per e-mail: jaguarmk2@tmo.at. Jakob Johler

Jakob, were you there in 1955? I arrived at Camp Riedenburg, Salzburg in February 1955 and left May 1955 upon the occasion of the signing of the WWII peace treaty with Austria. I recall there was about two feet of snow on the ground when our truck pulled into the Camp motor pool area. I fell in love with Salzburg and got to know it and environs pretty well since my duty was Jeep Patrol. I have posted pictures on the sight beginning on page 7 & 8.

I am looking for someone called Raul (I don't remember his last name) who served for the American military in Giessen (Germany) in 1965 and 1966. He was originally from Puerto Rico. Can anybody help me?
Jakob Johler 04-May-2008 11:06
Between 1952 and 1955 I used to work at the 202nd MP Headquarters, at Camp Riedenburg, Salzburg, Austria as Desk Interpreter/Investigator.I remember some pleasant guys like SFC Daniels, Master Sgt. Peddy etc. and I wonder if they ever returned to Salzburg. I also remember the strict orders, that any time during the night, the Company Commander hat to get out of bed, and come to the MP Hedquarters, to pick up one of his drunken EMs, when he was arrested by one of the patrols. The radio sign for the patrols was "Razor 1, or 2 etc". If you remember me, please write. Looking forward to hear from you. Jakob Johler.

I served as desk sergeant with the 523rd MP Det (later 2nd platoon of the 552nd MP Co.) Braconne France - 1959-1961. Anybody around from this era? Would especially like to hear from Bob Ford, Winfield Wilson, and Bill Doyle.

I served in the 202nd MP Co. from Dec 1979 to Dec 1981. I lived in Pendleton Barracks on the 2nd floor. I was a tower rat for two years but loved the one day on and two days off routine. That left a lot of time to explore Germany. I remember several names from those days. David Carr, Rick Metternick, Ray Sawdon, Chris Edsel, Alicia Brown, Dianah Meredith who married Bob Westmoreland and many others. I am trying to locate Richard Butler who I last saw in Simi Valley, CA in 1982. I love the photos posted here and my name is on the one with the orders along with some of those I have mentioned, I enjoy this site and thanks for making it available.

My father who is Troy Mitchell served with the 202nd MP Company in Salzburg Austria 1949-1953. He has many fond memories of Salzburg- the people he served with and the place .He has asked me to track down info on SGT Mike. My father took care of Sgt Mike for a year half before my father left in '53. I guess when she couldn't be with him she would take a nap on his bed until he came back from wherever. He told me of her honors and her getting into trouble and her court martials for fighting. My father truly had a place in his heart for this dog and hated leaving her behind. He is now 80 and he just wants to know where she went and where she is buried and did she receive a military burial? I read here she went to France- but does anyone know or can you direct me to the person who would know what happened to her after Salzburg? I would appreciate any help. Contact me at brenda.wertz@atlanticbb.net

I was with the 202nd in Salzburg, Austria from February 1955 through May 1955 when the Austrian Government signed the WW II Peace Treaty. Although that was a good thing I was also disappointed since the treaty required all foreign troops to leave. I loved my tour in Salzburg and have been back for a visit and found it to be as welcoming a place as in the '50s. I went from there to Erlangen, Germany where I finished my time in the Army. You may see some of my pictures on pages 7 & 8 of the Photo Gallery.

My name is Mike Klimansky. My father Mike was stationed at Ingrandes from 1963-1966, but not in the 202. I was 10 years old at the time but have many pleasent memories from my years at Ingrandes. I lived in Lafayette Village and had a chance several years ago to return there and see my old house. It doesn't look much different though they have added carports. Would love to talk to some others who were there.

In Jan. 1967, I was sent to Ft. Sheridan after basic to be trained (OJT)as a heavy equipment operator with the Engineers. In about June of that year I received TDY orders to go to Ft. Gordon GA. to MP school. I returned to Ft. Sheridan and was assigned to the new MP company that had just returned from France. I was with the Company until I received my orders in Nov. to go to Viet Nam. I arrived in Viet Nam just two weeks before the TET offensive and was discharged in Oct, of 1968.
