On the Hill

March 8

@ the Northern End of the Natchez Trace Pkwy

Purchase Gallery Poster print @ Coile Photography:

I guess Buz got me thinking about old Tennessee farm houses. My dad egged
me on to go shoot this one before it goes the way of so many others.
Another from my childhood memories, this one sits at the northern end of
the Natchez Trace Parkway and right across from an old country cafe we
frequented when I was a child.

The daffodils have stood the test of time. Everything else is just
holding on.

Thanks for posting both images. I doubt I would have seen the top one while looking over the scene from the perspective of the bottom image. Great eye. This image just has me sitting here thinking "beautiful". This photo needs to be seen. Simply beautiful.

Wow! What a beautiful reminder that Spring is here! And, there is beautiful counterplay between the house's condition and the newness and color of the daffodils.--Rene

carol j. phipps08-Mar-2006 23:42
My! Goodness! this is nice. Love the angle of the shot. The moss on the side of the old house is just right for the multiplicity of yellow blooms.
petesie08-Mar-2006 23:41
So beautiful, Scott. Just think of all of the feet that have walked up those front steps and all of the stories the house could tell. Thank your Dad for us.
Guest 08-Mar-2006 23:33
I can see it as if I were there
Get the Giotta out and set it up for a low angle shot
Mount the MarkII
and slap in the 17 - 40 L lens do a custom WB and shoot away
