Campsis radicans.jpg

Roadside in Kingston Springs, TN

Trumpet Vine (Trumpet Creeper) is a major source of food for Hummingbirds. The huge blooms and nectar cater to their tastes an long-beaked abilities. Caught with some back lighting, the detail and depth of the throat are accentuated.

The black-and-white conversion of this shot is nice, but I like this color version better. Sometimes removing color from the equation can simplify a composition, but in this case for me the color better separates the flowers from the background.

Well named! Wonderful lighting! I must be a purist as I prefer the color version. :)
