We have the chance to have such beautiful bird living wild in our area. They are secretive birds and usualy if they detect a presence they will hide in the tall grass and wait totaly immobile. Often I have seen them do it in the short grass where they cannot really hide and then they won't move until you are very close and generaly fly away. They can fly with grace and beauty! Fortunatly these birds are not hunted as much in California and this is why we still have the change to see them wild, and what a spectacle this is! Their scaly feathers glow with all the colors of the rainbow.
