It was a cool but sunny day when we visited the ancient city of CORDOBA, some two hours drive north of Seville. We met our guide and walked across the Roman Bridge ~ now heavily restored, and in fact the object of some controversary because of it. Into the Old City, the Medina ~ and a visit first to the historic Royal Residence where we enjoyed a walk through its beautiful, Moorish style gardens. Then we moved on to the Cathedral, looking strangely like a mosque with its enormous prayer hall full of those famous red-and-white striped double archways ~ a fascinating place that we were glad to see for ourselves, having known about it for many years.
