In 1991 David Whitwam started Whirlpool's business with India.
They started a tradition of planting a tree when each international employee
visited Pondecherry, India.
Through the years over 1000 trees have been planted.
I was very honored and moved when we planted my tree.
My supervisor, Charels Randall planted his tree 4 years ago and it has grown quite large today.
We took some pictures of his tree also.
Mr. Whitwam's tree is by a fountain that depicts how laundry was done on a rock by a river ]
in India for years. Now we are building simple machines for the India people to use.
The workers are very dedicated and make only the US equilivant of $2.00 a day but their quality
numbers are amoung the best of WHirlpool worldwide.
I think that you should plant a tree at your new house in honor of someone in Pondicherry. Or have them plant it when they pay a visit to the Tech Center.
