Three days after shooting the fireworks I was fired by the newspaper. Eight months earlier they fired our reporter in Barrow, who had been there 7 years. That means there is not a single print journalist working in either the NW Arctic Borough or the North Slope Borough, a huge area of international significance. I now work for the radio station in Kotzebue.
