Redwood City, 1966

The Redwood City race was a criterium around the roads at Ampex. This is a shot of the juniors. It was totally flat, but for some reason was a major race in those days. Nick Zeller, on the left in the blue jersey, travelled all the way from Oregon to ride. On the right in the green Pedali Alpini jersey is Steve Lubin. I don't know any of the other riders. Is it possible that's Mike Piper in the center in the Pedali Alpine jersey? One of you old guys please send me ID on some of these riders.

If that's Howard Higginbothem, my mistake ! But the bike is definately the Bartali !
Now that I remember George Dyer purchased another Bartali - a blue one.

The Belmont BC rider in the middle I believe is my teamate George Dyer. That bike he is riding is a Gino Bartali, a club bike which I now own and have restored. I purchased it from Belmont's founder Larry wolpole.
