When MTV asked the Goo Goo Dolls where they'd like to go for the Rock in High Places show, they said Alaska. A company in Anchorage picked out three places for filming and Kotzebue was one of them. The band spent a day in the town and it was a great event for us and for them. The resulting DVD is a good one and available at most video stores. When bass player Robbie stepped up to the walrus hide to try the blanket toss, I said "this guy is going to the hospital!" The blanket toss is not for sissies nor for the inebriated. To my surprise, he really performed. I don't think he knows how impressed a bunch of people on the Chukchi Sea were with his performance that day.
