Unloading gravel at Kotzebue

Kotzebue, Alaska

Gravel is Alaska's number one mined commodity...Kotzebue is very swampy and gravel is swallowed faster than it can be brought in. This high quality rock came in from Nome. The main barge was anchored 12 miles out where it was deep...and this smaller barge was lightering it in. Note the uneven exposure from panel to panel. Doesn't happen with my D30, so I may start doing all my panos with the D30.
